The Gambling Club

Four Italian women, tough as life itself, have gathered around a card table. Smoke rises from their cigarettes like a dragon’s breath, framing their faces marked by time. Their nicotine addiction is so strong that their lungs have decided to join in the fun, rolling away from their bodies to join the game, carried away by the cards like knights in a tournament. These women have played and smoked together for forty years, an alliance of dependency and companionship that cannot be shaken. But beneath the surface, there is a spark of rebellion, a refusal to surrender to the life that is consuming them.
